Movies you should watch

Hey guys, it’s almost the summer holidays! So that means lots of time for fun. And for some of you, fun means curling up on the couch and watching movies. If you feel like watching a movie but you don’t know what to watch, here are some ideas:

1. Star Trek – into darkness

This movie is still in theaters, and it is amazing. However, it will be 5 times better if you watch the first new movie first (if that makes sense). And no, it isn’t like Star Wars.

2. Harry Potter – and the deathly hallows

This movie is not in theaters anymore, and it has two parts. They are really action-packed and fun to watch. You should watch the other six first though.

3. The Avengers

This is also quite action-packed. It’s a really good choice if you’re having a party with your friends, or just for watching by yourself.

4. Avatar

Avatar is one of my all time favourite movies. Sadly, it is no longer in theaters, but it is still an awesome movie. (it’s best in 3D)

5. Lord of the Rings

L.O.T.R. is three movies in total, and is one of the most famous movies ever made. It is also one of my favourite movies ever. You really should watch it.

6. The Hobbit

This movie is quite similar to Lord of the Rings. It is actually the story that comes before Lord of the Rings, so it has the same places, and some of the same characters. It is a great movie to watch.

These are just some ideas. If they don’t appeal to you, there are lots of other lists on the internet. Good luck!

Find Yourself a Hobby

In my last post, I’ve talked about places you should go in the summer time without spending money on a plane trip. Well, one of the choices was to do your favorite hobby. Didn’t see my last post? Check it out here!

Some of you are having troubles finding a hobby, or finding a hobby that you will enjoy and keep for a long time. I have came up with some ideas for hobbies that some of you would like, and if you don’t, you can always contact us if you need help with more ideas.

1. Card Making

I’m not sure if all of you (even the boys + men) are into card making, but you can use this hobby as a living, as well! You can buy special paper for the cards, stamps and stuff like that. It’s not really cheap for the supplies, but for me personally, it’s pretty worth it.

2. Blogging!

Just like Sam, Emma and I have. Our hobby is blogging; you can make a pretty easy personal blog with Word press or Blogger. For me personally, Blogger is much easier to use, and not that over-whelming. But, you can decide on which one, depending on your style. You can blog about anything; sports, latest celebrity gossip, cooking recipes, schooling, arts, or just do journalism just like us ( A few competitors wont hurt a bit )

3. Making Crafts

Kinda like number one (card making) but with this hobby you can craft anything, not only cards.  You can make lots of things! Just search up ‘Crafting Ideas’

4. Create Your Own Stories

Creating our own story is a pretty cool hobby to me. I enjoy making our very own story ‘A Story of Hope…Hope Callies’. You can view the story here. You can create a funny story, depressing, happy, exciting or sad story! There are truthfully endless possibilities in story making. Or, if you don’t like writing and your more of a drawing person, you can create comics! And better yet, if you feel like it, you can create your own blog about your stories/comics.

5. Create Your Own Accessories

You can create your own accessories! Either it’s fashion accessories, or accessories for your phone! Honestly, I wonder why I never did think of that hobby before….

Sorry that’s it mostly all girl hobbies… but if your a boy looking for a new hobby.. just contact us here. We will respond ASAP. Anyways, I hope I helped you with this post, and finding a hobby that fits you best!

Chapter 3- A Story of Hope…Hope Callies

Chapter 3-

Normally, Hope would be super excited for the first day of school, but today she wasn’t. She got separated from all her 11 friends. No one to talk to or to talk about her issues. She couldn’t even be bothered to speak to a person today, because this year since she’s older now, the teachers are more strict and bossy.

The whole day went by pretty fast for Hope. The teachers talked about their selves, they set up a get-to-know-you activity for the students, and they talked about the expectations, lockers, supplies and of course just some activities to pass the time. Hope felt very lonely knowing that no friend is in the same room as her. She just felt…empty. As soon as she knew it, the bell has rung to go back home. Since it’s just a half day for the girls at Rocky Academy; they didn’t eat lunch. So Hope went to the locker that she had last year and took out her sliver lining, red polka-dotted back pack and quickly left the building,

While Hope was walking out of the building, she saw Delilah hanging out with her ‘new’ friends. Her heart sank. Hope understood that no one can only stick with one friend, but the fact that Delilah saw Hope walk by her and did nothing but just began to talk away like she normally did did not occur to her. Did Delilah want to just ignore and pretend that Hope never existed? And all of Hope’s problems would not be her care anymore? Hope couldn’t understand why. Especially why Delilah’s new friends gave her the ‘dirty’ look.

When Delilah got home…none of her family members where home. Mom, Justin, Casey and Jennifer were working, and Amber was working extra hard because there’s a ‘huge’ exam for her website learning. April went out grocery shopping and Marie was at a friend’s house. So Hope ran up the stairs, to her bedroom and slammed the door shut.

She cried for so long, at the corner of her bedroom. Hope just hated her life already, but now even more. She just couldn’t under stand why everything had to happen to her or her family. Why Delilah turned her off, and why she got separated. Why … just… why.

Things to Do Without Spending Money

Picture of the Hellevator at Playland

So recently, we, on our blog have already 2 posts about Vacations and places to go for the summer. But why not things to do? Some of you have been wondering what to do for the summer, without spending real money on a plane trip. Here are some ideas, but you can search up more on Google if none of these are your cup of tea.

1. Do Your Hobby, or Find One!

Most people have a hobby, but not all. If you have a hobby, you can do it when your bored, or for the summer on those hot days. Don’t have a hobby? Don’t worry, in my next post I’ll show you a couple of ideas for a new hobby.

2. Go to Playland (PNE) or Marine Land!

If you live in Canada, you can either go to Marine Land or Playland! Personally, my favorite is Playland, but you can always check out Marine Land. I do believe Marine Land is in the Toronto,Ontario area… so for all of you who don’t live there or live near there, you must want to switch to the choice of Playland. I also recommend that if you have a kid(s) that is around 8+ you for sure consider these choices, as in Playland, there are really fun rides (scary ones to).

3.Go to the Aquarium

This is a fun place to go, as it’s just so many things to explore there. As I know, there is a local Aquarium in Vancouver called the Vancouver Aquarium. I never checked it out before, but I heard it’s really cool and fun.

4. Go For A Road Trip or Picnic!

Probably everyone has went over this option already, but it’s always and option to consider! You can look up ‘Nearest hiking trail in…..” or “Nearest community park in…..” and for sure something will pop up!

5. Go to a Local Swimming Pool/Splash Pool

In Canada, there are many creatively designed splash pools. Again, in Google you can search up the nearest splash pool or swimming pool in your community.

That’s all for now! If you want more ideas, don’t be afraid to contact us and we will come up with more ideas!

Are you in the mood for baking, but unsure of what to bake? Well, here are a list of ideas:

1. Cookies

There are so many kinds of cookies you can bake. Chocolate chip, oatmeal-cranberry, peanut butter, gingersnap, and more….

2. Muffins

Muffins are great, because they are usually pretty healthy. They also have a lot of options. Banana-chocolate chip, butterscotch, cinnamon, chocolate, apricot, and more….

3. Bars

Bars are really nice; especially when they are fresh. Some examples are brownies, flapjacks, apple and apricot bars, and banana bread.

4. Cakes and cupcakes

These are most commonly used for parties and special occasions, but you can use them for regular days too. Again, there are many flavours. Chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, cinnamon, marshmallow, and more…

If you still don’t know, here are some good websites to find recipes:

Chapter 2- A Story of Hope…Hope Callies

Chapter 2

Like I said, Hope was just a normal girl on the outside, but in the inside was the crisis their family was in. Hope goes to a school called Rocky Academy for Girls; her 5 sisters go there as well. The Academy teaches from grade 6-12; So it’s a pretty big academy. The teachers teach the exact same  thing as normal schools do. They teach Mathematics, History and Science… with the occasional English and French.

Hope has many friends at Rocky Academy, but not many outside of the school. Hope likes to keep her friends very close, she doesn’t make friends with people easily. All the friends she knew are with her all the way before her dad died, and with her in pre-school. Most of them moved away, but there are still plenty of them with her. The last time Hope had counted, she has 11 friends. Katie, Ally, Kimberley, Coraline, Alisha, Amy, Rose, Maddie, Daniela, Delilah and Lauryn. They didn’t even know about the crisis Hope’s family is in either, except for Delilah.

Delilah is very close with Hope and her family; they were born at the same hospital, same day. Except that Delilah is a few hours older than Hope, and they would make fun and mess around with each other whenever Delilah had brought it up. Hope and Delilah are inseparable. Whenever they get split up for anything, classes or sports, they would manage to be together. Delilah understands and has pity for Hope. Hope can always and always does talk to Delilah whenever she is feeling down. She always tries to cheer Hope up.

But this year, it was different.

Hope got split up with everyone this year. Her grade 8th year. She lost all her friends, including Delilah. Delilah was beyond chatty with other people, so it didn’t bother her, except that the fact they were very close and now Hope had nothing.

Vacation time!

Hi guys! Maybe you haven’t realized this yet, but there are only a couple weeks left until the summer holidays.  So if you’ve already planned a vacation, that’s great! But if not, you should really check out these places. To begin with, Disneyland is a great place for kids. If you have a family, you should consider it. There is one disadvantage; it’s pretty expensive. If amusement parks and fast rides aren’t your style, and you prefer something quiet, then you should try somewhere like Vancouver Island. That is a great place for things like caving, exploring, hanging out on the beach, or just relaxing. So why not give it a try? If that’s still to much for you, maybe you would prefer something like sightseeing. If you like that idea, you should look up the following: The Grand Canyon, The Greek Islands, and The Eiffel Tower. Or, if you just want to relax, you could go to a tropical resort somewhere like The Caribbean Islands, or Florida. I hope this helps!

Chapter 1- A Story of Hope…Hope Callies

Chapter One… Hope Callies

Hope Callies was her name. She had silky, light blonde hair that is up to her shoulders. Hope also had olive green eyes, which shimmer in the sunlight. Hope wasn’t very tall, she was just the average of her age; which was 13. Everyone in her school knew Hope…she had many friends who were loyal to her and her family. She had a beautiful personality… she was kind, peaceful, respectful, honest and many more.

Hope had a family of 8; Her mom, brother and 6 sisters…including herself. Her dad passed away of lung cancer 5 years ago when she was only 8 years old…and yet she was the youngest.

Her mom’s name was Victoria Callies. Hope’s mom works at a local supermarket as a cashier. She doesn’t get much money, but she doesn’t really care either because all she cares about is her family… and at least she gets money she can put some food on the table. Hope’s oldest sibling, her brother, who’s name is Justin, is 20. He still lives with his mom, because he’s trying to help her with managing the income. Yet they’re still struggling to keep their house… Justin and the rest of the family are trying to have a positive attitude with life.

Hope’s older sisters named: Casey, Jennifer, Amber, April and Marie were all worried about the family’s income as well. They weren’t legal age yet to have a job, except for Casey, who’s 18. They’re family can’t afford college.. never mind about university. So Casey, just like Justin and their mom are working as cashiers. Jennifer, age 17 , is working as a babysitter. She usually just gets around $10 per visit, as the neighbourhood knows nothing about the crisis their family is in. Amber, age 16, she doesn’t have a job, but in high school she is taking a website course where she can, supposedly, make good money. April (age 15) and Marie (age 14) are unemployed, and not getting a job as a cashier, because they would have to wait 4 years until they can.

The reason why Hope’s name is Hope because when she was born, her dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. Why it took 9 years for him to die? Well, it’s because for 4 years he never knew he had lung cancer. Yet he was a smoker. Then for 1 year they have thought the cancer went away. It came back and for 4 years he was struggling to survive. So Hope barely even know what her dad looks like… and she wished that her dad had never passed away… on June 17th,1980… on Hope’s 9th birthday.
